Our client, a well-established manufacturing company based in Shannon, Co. Clare, is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their innovative and forward-thinking team. This key role involves managing and analyzing financial data to drive cost efficiency, enhance operational decision-making, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Cost Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyse cost information to maintain an accurate expenses database.
- Cost Control: Monitor variances to standard costs and investigate significant differences.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts.
- Reporting: Create detailed reports to present cost-effective solutions and financial analysis.
- Standard Costing: Calculate standard costing of products in systems like SAP, including reviewing and updating BOMs (Bills of Materials), Routings, and Activity Rates.
- Process Improvement: Lead finance-related process improvement projects, particularly those related to costing of materials.
- Reconciliation: Perform account reconciliations and prepare audit reports.
- Financial Guidance: Provide finance guidance aligned with customer pricing simulations and financial modelling.
Competencies/Requirements
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Education: BSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP).
- Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
